Just reading the site

No account, no sign-up wall, no login cookie. The site sets no cookies of its own and saves nothing in your browser's storage.

Show WhatsApp sends an empty request to our server and gets the numbers for that page back. Nothing is asked for, nothing is logged about who tapped it, nothing is written anywhere. The numbers sit behind that tap to keep them out of scrapers' hands — it is a defence for the people listed, not a step that collects anything from you.

Signing in with Google

Signing in is only ever needed to post something. Google hands the page a signed ID token and our server checks that signature against Google's own public keys before it writes anything.

From that token we keep two things:

• Your Google account id — an opaque number Google uses to identify your account to us. It is how we know a review is yours, and it is never shown publicly.
• A shortened display name — first name plus last initial, like "Marcos G." That short form is the only version stored; your full name never reaches our storage.

A review stores the contact it is about, that account id, the short name, your star rating, your text and the dates. No email address, no full name, no profile photo and no link to your Google profile is stored with a review.

If you recommend a contact or add a meetup, we also store the name and email address on your Google account so we can come back to you about the submission. Those sit in a private field that only the site admin can see — the public data the pages are built from strips them out, so they never appear on the site.

Google's sign-in script is loaded from Google only when you open the review or the recommend box. Browsing and searching the directory never contacts Google. What Google itself does with your sign-in is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

Reviews are public

Your short name, rating, text and dates are visible to everyone. One person gets one review per contact — posting again edits the one you already left rather than adding a second.

While you are signed in you can edit or delete your own review at any time. Deleting removes the stored record entirely.

Where all of this lives

One key-value store on Cloudflare, which is also where the site is hosted. There is no other database, no data warehouse, no CRM, and nothing is copied anywhere else.

Email

The site sends mail through Brevo, and only in one direction: a one-line heads-up to the ArgExpats team saying there is a new submission or review to look at. There is no newsletter, no mailing list, and nothing is ever sent to you.

Analytics, ads and trackers

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views. It is cookie-free, does not fingerprint your browser and cannot follow you to other sites. As our host, Cloudflare also keeps the ordinary server logs any website has.

That is the whole list. There is no advertising, no ad pixel, no remarketing tag, no third-party analytics beyond the above, and nothing about you is sold, rented or shared. We do not build a profile of you, because we do not have the pieces to build one from.

Getting your data removed

Email [email protected] and it gets done. No form, no account needed.

• A review — delete it yourself while signed in, or ask us. Because we do not store your email with a review, tell us which contact it was on and the name it shows under so we can find it.
• A recommendation or a meetup you submitted — ask us and we remove the row, or strip your name and address off it if the listing itself stays.
• An old address from the email gate — ask us and it is deleted.

If you are listed in the directory

People end up on ArgExpats because someone in the community recommended them. If that is you:

• Edit your own entry. Ask us for your private claim link and you can keep what you do, your barrio, languages, Instagram, website and the one-line note current yourself.
• Change your number. You can do that from the same link, but the change waits for a person to confirm it before it goes live — swapping a number is how a listing would be hijacked, so it is the one edit that is checked by hand.
• Come off the site. Email [email protected] and your listing is removed. You do not have to give a reason and there is nothing to argue about.

Changes to this page
